Aesthetic Perfection - Almost perfection achieved!!!
****
Still impressive on the live stage
Aesthetic Perfection **** are a band I have been listening to for quite a while, and I have seen them countless times. And what I have always liked, is that they really mix it up and you don't always know who will be playing with musical mastermind Daniel Graves. Because over the years he has had a orrery of different members, all good in their own way. Of course one of the members is Joe Letz (Till Lindermann Band / Combichrist / Amen ext...) - (Drums), who is not with Daniel at the moment because he is playing in Till's band along with Contance Antionette (Keyboards - Guitar also in Aesthetic Perfection). The new Aesthetic Perfection live line-up for this tour included Lor Jarcinski (Guitar / Keyboard) and Mike Schopf (Drums),
The show is part of their 'Winter Goth' tour, wonder if there will be a 'Winter Goth' song... to go alongside with the 'Summer Goth' song. A song that Daniel said he would never play live, but added to tonight's setlist as a treat for all the loyal fans that had turned out two nights in a row to see the band. Of course the band played as support to Lindermann the night before at the London, Wembley, Ovo Arena. I thought Aesthetic Perfection went down very well in the big Ovo Arena, I also went to the show the night before. And thought they really did themselves justice and put on a great show.
They have so many great songs, but for me 'Antibody' is one of the best in their set at the Garage. I love the steady intensive beat, and the fact that everyone seems to love it so much. But another great track in the set is 'Spit it Out', with it's Combichrist esq. hard hitting beats... going back to their slightly heavier early material. But finding stand alone racks in the set is quite hard, because each track is as good or better than the last. You don't find many bands that just have hit after hit, the set is all killer and no filler. Let's just say the set is a thriller, and was really enjoyable.
Strangely this was one of the best Aesthetic Perfection shows I have attended, but I do miss Joe Letz on the band. I know Aesthetic Perfection is Daniel Graves, but I think maybe he needs a consistent live band... because just as you like someone they are not there the next time you see them.Talking about consistency, I have to say the Aesthetic Perfection albums are very consistent... with each one being as good as the last. If I have to say in different ways, not beingafraid to try something different and I really like that.
