Amy Macdonald - Scottish beauty graces the Cornbury stage!
***1/2
Beautiful Folk music from Amy!!!
Amy Macdonald ***1/2 (Pleasant Valley Stage) is very popular in Europe and the Folk / Pop Scottish born singer is very beautiful. I think Amy’s voice sounds more Irish than Scottish in places like on the hit single ‘This is the Life’ she has that Celtic feel about her and that works well at the Cornbury, and she even commands the stage very well. This song has hints of The Cranberries to it so I think she might have been influenced by this band and maybe even The Corrs.
This is not really my music but many of my friends are really in love with her and play her all the time. The songs are very well written and might be something I would put on as a CD but for me live it doesn’t really go anywhere but it is nice to see Amy so that is a good bonus and she is wearing amazing boots today that any festival goer would want.
Her songs really work well in a festival atmosphere, like when Coldplay first hit Glastonbury with 'Yellow' years ago. Sometimes things just work in the right situation and Amy Macdonald and Cornbury is one of them. The only thing that let's her down is that she needs to mix it up a little bit more, because after a while the set seems a bit similar, but with time I think she will work out how to fix that. Amy Macdonald is a singer that is going to be around for a longtime, and your mum will love her.
