Andy McKee - An introduction to a guitar wizard!
Introducing Andy McKee, a simply amazing guitar player!
Andy McKee is one of the world’s finest acoustic guitar soloists. His unique multi layering approach means whilst he alone plucks, strums, and taps the strings and body, he creates the illusion of a full band accompaniment, the harmonic sweep of a string section, the dazzling runs of a bluegrass doghouse bass and banjo duo, and virtually anything else his pastoral compositions and mesmerizing covers require.
One of the internet’s first true viral video superstars, Andy shot to worldwide prominence in 2006 when his technically astounding 'Drifting' was lauded by Digg and YouTube users and has gone on to receive over one hundred million plays on YouTube alone!!! with numbers still rising daily. Despite being entirely self taught, Andy’s technically and musically ground breaking versions of both original and cover songs has made him a household name in numerous countries Worldwide. At one point he held the No.1, No.2 and No.3 positions on YouTube’s top rated videos of all time.
Andy McKee’s career is no online gimmick as a live musician he performs over two hundred shows a year from Arizona to Zimbabwe and has independently released six studio albums with another in the making. Selling in excess of 50,000 copies without any major record label or marketing support. This star was born, raised and still living in his hometown of Kansas, Andy has toured and performed with some of the biggest names in music including Dream Theatre, Eric Johnson and Prince, who he both supported and joined on stage to perform 'Purple Rain' every night on his last Worldwide arena Tour.
Following on from the hugely successful 'Guitar Masters' UK tour in Autumn 2012 which Sold Out!!! dates across the UK, this forthcoming solo tour will once again showcase the exceptional talents of one of the most talented guitarists alive today. Uniquely, this tour will feature two London gigs, the first, an intimate standing only gig at the London, The Tabernacle Hall and the final show is a date at London’sprestigious Union Chapel. Both will feature special guests to be announced in due course.
