Anna get's dark on her new album 'One Breath' !!!

On the verge of her UK shows, Music Trespass thought we would look into Anna Calvi's new dark offering 'One Breath' to see what everyone is talking about. The album opens with ‘Suddenly’ a dark brooding song that seems to come from the soul of Anna, dark almost haunting opening that burst into a crescendo of noise. The opening track is very indicative of the album as a whole, it all seems to come from deep within, an outpouring from the very distinctive vocals.

‘Eliza’ has a more catchy Rock sound to it, but still all held in place with that amazing voice is the glue for the competing but complimentary sounds that are on offer. ‘Cry’ has an almost Muse like sound to the guitars, while ‘Love of my Life’ ramps up the sound to eleven. There are twists and turns throughout, final song on the album ‘The Bridge’ has an almost choral sound, but the quality and captivating nature is the one thing common theme throughout it all.

If your a fan of dark brooding female singers then Anna Calvi is one you just can't ignore, she is for fans of the new work of Clare Maguire or anything by PJ Harvey. I think this is a singer that will develope more and more time and will deliver some really shocking and interesting albums. She is well worth a listen to so buy the CD and see what you think for yourself.
