Armored Saint - Set the rhythm of the night under the red lights!!!

August 6th 2015
London, Electric Ballroom, UK

***1/2

A band on the bill not to be ignored!

Armored Saint ***1/2 start their set in front of an already overexcited crowd, thanks to an amazing performance by Death Angel. The London, Electric Ballroom atmosphere is really electric and we are all excited for their set. Armored Saint open with the awesome single 'Win hands Down' the title track of the bands new album, you can hear the single and see the video at the bottom of this page.

This is a song that could be a massive win for the band, and you can see why they released it as a single. Armored Saint play to a fully red lighted stage, which seems to have a lot of space free which makes their performance even better. They continue with their frantic rhythm going for the tracks 'March of the Saint' and 'Nervous Man', two of the best tracks in the bands set tonight. They have a really interesting Thrash edge and really get the crowd moving, making them really stand out in the performance.

When the band arrive at 'An exercise in Debauchery', in my opinion one of the best songs off the bands new album 'Win hands Down'. They show they can up the pace, and they have learned a few things over the years. The bands legendary singer Jon Bush (Ex-Anthrax) talks for a short bit. before announcing the next song in the bands set 'Raising Fear'. He takes us into the second half of the set, with real class and the connection between all members... this is really interesting to watch.

Especially their many guitar solos and shredding parts, which demonstrates that they are a well put together band that must practice together a lot. Just a shame that original guitarist David Prichard isn't in the band now, would have been nice to see him performing with them again. They end the set with the mega Thrash classic 'Can you Deliver' to the delight of their UK fans.

They come from the same roots as Anthrax and other 90's Thrash giants like Testament, Metallica, Exodus and Slayer to name a few. With 'Reign of Fire' and 'Can you Deliver' bring the set to a heavy conclusion. They leave the stage boldly, knowing they have given Queensryche a run for their money. Armored Saint are a band that should have been so much bigger than they are now, they kind of missed their chance which is a real shame.
