Ash - Bring 'A life less Ordinary' to Truck!

Let's party like it's 1977!!!

Ash ***** (Truck Stage) Ok a lot of people have though Ash must be past it now and not able to deliver the goods anymore. But they are completely wrong Ash have never backed down or got less impressive live and years on they can still bring on a great live performance. Ash were really young when they started the band in 1992 and they still look really young now with Tim and Mark looking like they have not aged at all and the same for Rick other than the fact he has shaved his head.

Opening with 'A life less Ordinary' which was a big hit for the band but doesn't actually come off any of their albums, this launches them into a furious action. This song sounds as good as it ever has done before a long with the rest of the songs in the whole set. The thing I love about Ash is that any song they produce could be a single their material is that strong and you can see from the setlist below that every song is so strong.

Both Tim and Mark still know how to command the stage and get a sing-a-long going so as they break out into 'Girl from Mars' you can already hear the crowd singing every word back to them. This song is a classic Rock song and is so well written and if you remember they wrote it when they were very young like so many of their biggest hits. This song came off their classic album '1977' a long with 'Goldfinger' and 'Kung Fu' which has a certain kick the Ash out of you vibe, meaning show you what they can still do.

'Shining Light' is just a classic Pop song that has been covered by so many mainstream Pop artists now and is probably one of the bands biggest selling songs even though not all the record sales are from their version. 'Orpheus' one of the bands later songs is just magnificent and shows Tim showing off how good he is at wielding his axe. Newish song 'Return of white Rabbit' has a good vibe and really gets the crowd going and shows they can still write a great song. This gives one of the best festival moments for this years Truck, it was like Ash were back playing Glastonbury and they were this years Coldplay.

Ash end with what most people would call their biggest hit 'Burn, Baby, Burn' well maybe their younger fans would and this shows the crowd erupting into motion and you wonder why they have not done this before and why this great Rock band are not as popular as they used to be. This is the return of Ash and I think they could go all the way again, well I do hope so.
