Becky Hill - The Voice comes to Derby

A little bit of a sing-a-long!!!

In the centre of England, Derby hosted its second TK Maxx - Summer Sessions Festival on the weekend of the 12th – 14th of July. It ran Friday to Sunday with Sunday having the times rescheduled as revellers (and acts) were clearly going to be torn between music and football. The venue for the festival is under the big top in Markeaton Park, which really made a great venue for a selection of the charts biggest acts.

Becky Hill ***1/2 is the Friday night headliner, and a name that has been making waves all around the country. The Voice semi-finalist from 2012 and winner of two Brit awards, is always worth checking out. So it's nice to see her headlining this great event in Derby, so we looked forward to her set. Becky Hill is one of the artists that is leading the 90's House. Electro-Dance craze, mixing up the Retro sounds of the 70's / 80's and 90's.

People just love past decades these days, and the act that embrace it. I think with so many things happening in the World today, people just want a sense of fun and these decades music and film bring that. Becky is a performer that knows what she is doing, and easily has everyone singing along to her hits 'Disconnect' and 'I wish you well'. Which shows she has a strong connection with her fans, so when there is a heartfelt tribute to fan Lauren Evans who sadly passed away recently, it is very emotional to both her and the audience.

I really like singers that have a connection with their audiences, and Becky Hill has this and she has a connection with the UK charts. She knows what she has to do, to have a chart hit. And if you can produce a catchy song, you can perform it live, to an audience that will know every weird. So if you want to sing-a-long with Becky yourself, then you can catch her on her tour in October.
