BirdEatsBaby - The Bullet

(CD Single Review)

***1/2

Soft Rock Cabaret that sounds like it was from the Brit-Pop era!

When I first heard 'The Bullet' it reminded me of songs of the Brit-Pop, like the work of Sleeper, Kenekie or even Elastica, well if you mixed them with the Cabaret sound of the Dresden Dolls. This is commercial but I love the fact it has so many twists and turns, but it does feel a little dated and do people still listen to this sound. I think with the resurgence of bands like Cast, James and other bands from the Brit-Pop era, I would say yes and BirdEatsBaby would be a very interesting band to watch live.

I don't really like the name of the band don't really think it goes to well with the music they make, sounds more like a Grunge band that would have played with maybe Hole, Daisy Chainsaw or even Babes in Toyland. I like the use of imagary and music and the way they use multiple instruments which shows this is a band full of really intelligent people with good ideas. I have to say this is not my cup of tea but I have loads of friends which love this kind of thing, yes they are all girls!!! this is a band that appeals strongly to the female gender. So if your a girl and love the bands I have mentioned above you can't go too wrong with giving BirdEatsBaby a try.
