Bjork - Vulnicura - Remix Project (Part 3)

Novemer 20th, 2015
(CD Album Review)

****

Bjork takes you to another place with third lot of remixes!!!

Back in January this year Bjork released her latest studio album 'Vulnicura', which received critical acclaim and continued to cement the Icelandic songstress amongst the top of her craft. Bjork never has done things by halves or produce what people may expect, so to go alongside this there have been a selection of remix releases.

Parts 1 and 2 containing four remixes each, and were released over the summer to the delight of many a Bjork fan. The most recent part included the final three remixes 'Lionsong' (Juliana Huxtable Remix) first up which is a very good lead in it almost could have been an original track, with the slight backing beats giving it that remix sound.

Bjork's haunting vocals holding the listener in until the end, the track almost draws you into it. 'Black Lake' (Bloom Remix)' has a much more Electronic feel to it with more of the remix sound that the original but with the strong Bjork elements holding strong. This is where it was a remix of two halves for this listener, I found the first two track very accessible and a great listen.

The second two starting with 'Family' (Bloom's North Remix)' were a slightly more challenging listen with the whole track having been given the Electronic treatment. I must admit to not being a remix connoisseur so perhaps it is me not quite getting the genre but i certainly didn't get the track and didn't see what it added to the original.

'Stonemilker' (Patten Rework) I would put in the same category, vocals and tune had been remixed to the point I found it a challenge to listen to. I am sure Electronic music aficionados would love the lot, and anybody who is a fan of Bjork and how she innovates music should get this as part of their collection.

All three parts of the remixes will be available on the 20th of November with limited edition single sided etched translucent twelve inches in die-cut sleeves and a digital release. This is a really beautiful release, and you can see from the beautiful imagery in this piece. That you would be missing out if you don't get yours.

Just showing how she likes to be ahead of the game and thinking outside the box there is also a orchestral arrangement to be released, so whatever you are into it seems Bjork is trying to create something for you. She will always be unusual and mysterious and a totally unique artist, and that is what is going to cement her name (Bjork) in musical history.
