America's fallen angels are back in the UK!

Black Veil Brides **** have toured the UK a few times now and have an army of young fans, wherever they go. Tonight they are cued up outside for hours before the doors even open eager to get in early to see their American hero's. They also have a longtime to wait before they come on with one out of place band and another not very good band to stand through before they even come on. The bands last record was very intelligent and had a more Prog Rock feel to it, but was not everyone's cup of tea, and I think lost them a lot of commercial appeal even though 'Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones' was a very well thought about and put together album.

It just did not have so many hit anthems that were ever so present on 'Set the World on Fire' like 'Fallen Angels, The Legacy' or even 'Rebel love Song' all of which were very well excepted singles. I think the tracks on this album are growers and after a while I think will be even more popular than some of the earlier material, that's the sign of good song writing and Black Veil Brides songs are really well written. Having a genius song writer like Jinxx Ferguson in your team cannot really hurt.

Opening up with 'Shadow Die' off the bands last album which starts off like soundtrack music from a Tim Burton movie before it breaks into Avenged Sevenfold Esq. riffs and launches the set into motion. I like the way the stage is set up with ramps and ledges like at an old Motley Crue show and the members of the band run up and down these throughout the show while playing their instruments. This song is one of the best songs off the 'Wretched and Divine' album and does have a great chorus to it, that is kicked in with a shouting bit similar to A7x material.

'I am Bulletproof' does have some anthem qualities but is quite complexed at the same time, it has many dimensions to it and even though it's catchy and a little poppy you hear new elements to it every time you listen. The title track to the new album which is up next in their set is a nice sing-a-long track that everyone can join in with and Andy Biersack sings every note perfectly and even does the screaming parts really well. They follow this with the bands breakthrough song 'Knives and Pens' which is a real fan favourite and one of their heavier tracks, so everyone in the audience goes really crazy for this. Screaming out the lyrics as they go, I do not think the band will ever not play this song in their set because it's a real crowd pleaser.

They follow this up with two storming tracks 'The Legacy' and 'All your Hate' both of which blast the set up in tempo. Bass player Ashley Purdy kicks into 'The Legacy' nicely on the bass guitar and you know what it is by the second note. He is also prominent on 'All your Hate' a track I have always really like when they play it live. I am not so keen anymore on their Billy Idol cover of 'Rebel Yell' it was great when they first played it, but they have played it for far too long now and think maybe it's time for it to be out of their set. This is taken back up by the ever so brilliant 'Perfect Weapon' that just get's better and better the more they play it and Jinxx and Jake's guitar work is just simply brilliant on. This song see's them back to back like Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold twiddling their guitars like proper guitar players should do.

We take a short interval for CC to give us a great and funny drum solo segment and then we are back into motion with the Jinxx penned 'Rebel love Song' which is a song that also grows as time goes on. 'Let you Down' is my highlight of the bands set a song that is available on the ultimate edition of the album, really does impress and you just think that if they had written it before maybe the last album would have been an even bigger on for them. It has a great guitar sound to it, and it really does pick up the pace nicely. 'Nobody's Hero' is a typical Black Veil Brides track and one they really have put their mark into so I think is a nice main set closer.

They come back on for a set stopping version of 'Love isn't always Fair' a track that hits hard now and has a great guitar sound to it. 'Fallen Angels is not as big as it normally is and the same for 'In the End' so the set comes to a close, what seems too early but actually isn't because they have played quite a few tracks. This was a good show but it was near enough the same one I saw earlier in the year on the Kerrang Tour, I am not complaining but I expected something different. Do not write Black veil Brides off because I think their next album is going to be the big one for them, if you don't know them I would recommend their first album 'We stitch these Wounds' because it is the heaviest and the best and a record I still cannot stop playing.
