Blood on the dance Floor - Spilt blood on Halloween is sometimes fun!

Birmingham, Asylum, UK

***1/2

Halloween carnage in Birmingham!

Blood on the dance Floor ***1/2 are an acquired taste that I didn't get straight away and just wondered what the hell is this, but they grew on me and now I really like them. They have something about that makes you either love or hate them, but after meeting the guys and understanding what they are all about, the songs started to make sense and they do have some killer melodies. The kids really love this band and you can see why they are really fun and they have a great sense of style that includes bright colours that really appeals to the new generation of Emo's and scene kids. Like you could buy any one of their t-shirts from their merchandise booth and be really happy with it.

They open up the gig 'Fake is the new Trend' a song that is really lively and has some chanting to it, this is a great song to get the show into action. We are reminded of the comparisons to Mindless self Indulgence on the track 'I Refuse to Sink' (F**k the Fame)' which has elements of craziness and Dub-Step if you mixed it with sugar plum Pop, love the rapping section Jayy... that really brings to us old school "No, No, No, No, No!!!". This song is so catchy that it will be in your head all day and the crowd go crazy to it and by the second show of the tour I have been to, this one in Birmingham I can sing every word of it.

The next two tracks are ones I know adore 'Redeemer' and 'Something Grimm'! the haunting Dub-Step / Electronic intro and the almost chanting lyrics with nice melodies really hit you hard and you just want to sway back and forth. This song is really helped tonight like 'Something Grimm' by the great backing vocals done by Kerry Louise who was brought on board to do the European tour. Both these songs have a strong commercial appeal and could even chart over here if they got the right amount of radio play. "La, La, La, La, 'Something Grimm'" this chorus goes in your head and won't go away, but it isn't bad I quite like it being their.

Ok a lot of the music tonight is running off the backing track but this band are really fun and they don't take themselves seriously!!! so who really cares. They have live violin curtsey of Brandy Wynn which adds to their live sound, Imagine if this band did take themselves serious what they could do. World domination? President of America? a five star review? I think the World is theirs for taken so Dahvie and Jayy go take it.

The single 'Unforgiven' gives a few more MSi comparisons with up's and down's in tempo and kick ass screams, but has it's own hint to while 'Bewitched' has great harmonies between each singer really stands out. This song really grips you in and makes you hum it for days, Futuristic beautiful Pop from the band that everyone loves to hate, maybe I am now a little 'Bewitched' by them.

I think this act have a lot of potential and I don't think it was their best show ever, it was really good but far to short. I look forward to seeing them when they play in the UK again. If you love Mindless self Indulgence, Neon or colourful hair!!! then check out Blood on the dance Floor. 'Ima Moster' and 'Scream for ice Scream' are silly and bring dance elements to the bands performance, these songs will probably drive you totally insane in the end.

They then introduce you to their name sake before taking you acoustic with an amazing version of 'Don't want to be like You' to end their performance. I think if you give Blood on the dance Floor a chance and don't believe all the bad things written about them, you will end up loving them. They are an acquired taste though and not for everyone and I can understand why people might have made up things about them, but always make your own mind up about things. I did and I know love Blood on the dance floor... even when this was not the best tour for them.
