The Brew UK - Control

(CD Album Review)

***
Fourth album from Grimsby Rockers!!!

The first thing you need to know about this album is that it was actually recorded live! To what extent that statement stretches the truth remains to be revealed but hey it's commendable none the less. The Brew UK Play a Bluesy classic take on Rock, think Free and Zeppelin mixed with 90's Brit Rock and a slight touch of Black Sabbath

The Brew UK have released a solid album with impeccable musicianship, there are some great solo's and the rhythm section is tighter then Iggy Pop's trousers. Frontman Jason Barwick has a great voice the track 'Pause' really showcases this fact brilliantly as the track starts quiet and then builds up from their. 'Fast Forward' rocks along nicely bring to mind The Who which is quite a hard task to do, because they have a very unique sound.

All this is great but the problem is that songs don't really stand out. The band tick all the right boxes and no doubt put them in front of any crowd and they'll pull off a great show but it's just not grabbing me. However played as a whole it works. A lyric from the track play goes "Play the music don't worry about the song, Play whatever feels right, and the rest will follow on" well it looks like it's working for them!
