Cherry Scream - Show you a bit of old time 80's Glam Rock!

November 21st 2013
London, Camden Underworld, UK

***

Get ready to scream for some classic 80's Glam!

Cherry Scream *** have not been going too long, still they managed to score a position the bill tonight at the London, Camden Underworld supporting Glam Welsh legends Tigertailz. Even though they have to go on early and are the second band to perform tonight. I had heard a few good things about this band before I got to check out their set, so I had some knowledge of what to expect. The band come onstage all friendly and that is not a bad thing for a Glam band, they don't have to be all moody dark and mysterious, like some other bands want to be.

This is a band that do what they do, it's not ground breaking stuff but they mix up Punk and Glam Rock influences to produce their sound. 'Hungry for your Love' the opening number does just that and drummer Dean Thikettle seems to be on a mission to impress looking like a stadium rocker behind the kit, he beats the drums like a metronome in time to the steady beat that Cherry Scream create. Singer Chloe Hazle is also determined to impress even though at times I think her nerves get a little bit the better of her, but that is expected when you have not played at this level before.

Ok their isn't much originality to this band, but most people that listen to this music just want full out Rock and Cherry Scream really do produce that. Guitarists Tom Reynolds and Max Constable I think today think they are playing Wembley because their are Rock poses a plenty as they Rock through numbers 'Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk' and 'That's Rock and Roll Baby' which have elements of KISS and AC/DC to them.

I think the band tonight are on an 'Adrenaline High' so it makes sense they sing a song by the same title. This is a dream come true for the band that only formed in 2011. They end the set with 'Headin' for the high Road' and you realise their are worse ways to spend half an hour than seeing Cherry Scream. I wouldn't go that much out of my way to see them again but if their on a bill I will check them out because they are fun and if you like Rock music you must respect where they are coming from. Also they are one of the nicest bands I have met when out reviewing, which is a real plus for them.
