Colosso - Thallium

(CD EP Review)

****

A band to keep an eye on!

Formed in 2011 and following on from their debut album 'Abrasive Peace' this EP sees Colosso gathering momentum in their creativeness. We have seven tracks here that give a total time of just under thifteen minutes so the band don't mess around. Only two of the tracks have vocals. The first three tracks are instrumental their dark, atmospheric and bone crushingly heavy! the EP as a whole brings to mind Mastodon and Cult of Luna in both of those bands early periods, it's great stuff.

'Prime' is great with a dark ambience and lead the way for the punishing echo system. Limited editions of this EP also come with a cover of Nirvana's 'Scentless Apprentice' which is absolutely brilliant and is with getting for alone. It reminds one what a great band they were. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this band I think great stuff is going to come.
