The Strange man brings his crazy World to Hard Rock Hell!

Hard Rock Hell

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown *** seems to pop up all the time on my travels with his craziness and bizarre stage show, which today includes giving himself a fake blow job with his microphone under his long robe. He runs through hits from ‘Fire to his Screamin Jay Hawkins cover of ‘I put a spell on You’ and his set closing Fleetwood Mac cover of 'Green Manalishi'.

I liked that last time I saw him he had a full band of girls in skimpy outfits like out of a Robert Palmer video, say 'Simply Irresistible' and this made him look like a dirty old man that the women all wanted for his money and I thought this was really cool. It's a shame now that half the girls have gone and been replaced by men. I also have no idea where he got that flamenco dancer from, did he bring her out of a box somewhere, I have no idea.

Other great moments in the set included Arthur Brown fighting with his keyboard player because he is stealing his keyboard away while he is still playing it. Also the crowd participation during 70's anthem 'Fire' is great. Arthur Brown has a great deal of material, he is not just about one song. You can't go for as many years as he has been going on one song, just for me you would have thought he would have a lot more appeal than he does have to me seeing he is not new to the business. It just doesn't all click for me and is a bit stale in places.

I know he is really influential, but I have seen him a few too many times now and he always does the same thing, so everything is a little predictable. He is wacky but now it seems like a forced wackiness. If you have seen him before then you will get the same old thing; if you haven’t seen him before then you will really enjoy this.
