Danny Bryant - Hurricane
***1/2
Blues man get's down!!!
Danny Bryant is a great Rock Blues guitarist and 'Hurricane' is his brand new release. Danny Bryant thinks he is a 'Prisoner of the Blues' but I think the Blues just commands him, and he seems to have a great love for it and knows how to work it really well so he puts a piece of himself into every song. This song has a very nice guitar solo at the end of it, but is not one of my favourites on the album because I think he plays it a little too safe on this track.
'Greenwood 31' has a incredible lick at the beginning and then mixed into old school Southern Blues and Johnny Cash Esq lyrics... this is Blues back to basics and Danny does it really well. Their is nothing new from the lyrics but sometimes that is not a bad thing. The bridge is also very cool and has a little bit I love that sounds a little ZZ-Top.
I love the ballad on this album 'Can't hold On' it has nice projection of Danny's voice and as he says in the song "Sends a shiver down my Spine!". Funny thing is I think this tracks sounds a bit like classic Bon Jovi and this might be the reason why I like it. This is a totally epic track... 'Hurricane' keeps this feel up and is one of the best tracks on the album.
He get's down to some old Blues licks that are a little jitter bug on the 'Devil's got a hold on Me' and probably would be the favourite track on this CD for most guitar players. 'All or Nothing' is great and his vocals do sound a little Jon Bon Jovi Esq. on it and I love this track it's really well put together and the fact he is playing guitar at the same time as singing is great. The album ends on the beautiful and quite 'Painkiller' that has great piano on it. This is an album that can be enjoyed by Blues and Soft Rock fans and is one I would listen to myself, a really nice effort by Danny Bryant.
