The Darkness - Glam Rock explosion in Southend
*****
The Darkness are really 'Growing on Me' !!!
The Darkness ***** Who would have thought The Darkness would get back together (Sans original drummer Darby Todd) Rufus Tiger Taylor son of Queen legend Roger Taylor taking over from him. After the band implosion in 2006, and with reunion shows announced in 2011 and release of two albums 'Hot Cakes' in 2015 and 'Pinewood Smile' in late 2017.
The Darkness are on their way around the World again bringing so much needed British Glam Rock to the World. The Darkness really do not disappoint tonight playing to a totally Sold Out!!! Cliffs Pavilion in Southend. We get bright skin tight clothes, hand stands, cowbells, huge aerial jumps from Justin, humorous stories and a killer set list that spans every album which keeps everyone bouncing along and singing.
Set highlights include 'One way ticket, Get yer hands off, Barbarian, Friday Night, Growing on Me' and 'I Believe in a thing called Love'. But I have to say any of their songs could of been a highlight tonight... they are so good. Justin informs the adoring fans that this is a sort of home coming gig for them as he was conceived in Cholchester.
Justin also proudly announces that they like this time of year as they get back in the charts again and as it is near Christmas as one of the encores is the classic 'Xmas Time' which goes down a storm with the fans. To some The Darkness are old hat, but tonight they fly, loud and proud the flag of British Rock n Roll and long shall they remain. I personally can't wait to see them again, it's good to see Rock done in the classic way.
