Dead city Ruins - Bringing a touch of Australia to London!
***
It's all about the Rock 'n' Roll !!!
Dead city Ruins *** hail from Melbourne in Australia and been making their way around the World on a pittance of money so god knows how they managed to actual get to the UK. You have to admire a band that has the determination to play a gig whatever the cost and they have been invited on this tour as guests of Ugly kid Joe and Skid Row after they picked their CD out of a pile of demo's. Like other heavy weights from their country including the mighty AC/DC and Airbourne they produce full on sleaze Rock 'n' Roll music and it really can kick a punch. They have a great frontman in the form of Jake 'Haggis' Wiffen who knows how to scream out a Rock song and strut around the stage like a pro.
Their might be some 'Broken Bones' in the audience tonight after they play a track of called this that launches at you like a panther if he was driving down the motorway at 5,000 miles an hour and is one of the highlights of the bands set, like when Tommy Teabag lead guitarist with the Australians bursts into the first riffs of 'Where ya gonna Run' and you realise that this is a good time Rock band that just like to play and have fun and don't care if you don't like what they are playing.
Singer Jake gives a high pitched scream out for one bit in the song that even Rob Halford would have been proud of. Ok the rhythms are a little repetitive and the guitar work is not as complicated as some other acts but they have a great attitude to them and they work the audience really well. This great track is taken from the bands debut album 'Midnight Killer' which you can order online now. They use the stage well the whole surface is covered so their is always something to watch and they look like they have been playing together in one way or another for years.
They are really groove ridden and have adopted some of the Northern flair of acts even in different genres like Black label Society and this works well to really warm up the crowd for the show tonight in London. They also has song that are very catchy and infectious and goes down quite well. This is nothing new but if you like ballzy Rock then this is a band you might like. For fans of AC/DC, Airbourne and Rose Tattoo.
