A Dead forest Index - Open up the night in London
***1/3
Band from the land down under come to the capital
A Dead forest Index ***1/3 are tonight supporting And also the Trees, at The Lexington in London. It is a cold night, and there is another train strike in the capital. Which meant I had to drive to get to the show, but a lot of people where stuck without any means of getting to the show. The due formed in Australia - the land of down under by brothers Adam and Sam Sherry, play tonight an acoustic session starting with a short solo from Adam to get things going.
Their style is hard to pinpoint but felt ethereal and very intimate. So the Lexington is a perfect venue, for their performance. The brothers ’vocals were hymnal and reminded me of old sea chanters, so in a way they seem to be a new Alternative brand of traditional Folk music. The pace was slow yet mesmerising, almost spiritual, with tunes like ‘Summit Down ’- a contrast to the darker vibes of headliners And also the Trees but at the same time still an ideal match.
Judging by the silence around me and the applause the band received, this duo (A Dead forest Index) got into the audience's hearts. The songs played were taken from the album 'In all that Drifts' and the EP 'Antique', which i suggest you take a listen to... so you can hear what I am talking about. They are a nice act that if you see are on the bill, worth turning up early to catch.
