Departed - Same as any other Hardcore band at the moment!

October 22nd 2013
London, Camden Underworld, UK

**

Hardcore is just all too similar these days

Departed ** have been sending out press releases and doing what bands do and gaining some good write up's, so I was quite looking forward to their set supporting Biohazard and the London Underworld. They start off like all Hardcore bands should do with a furious explosion of aggression but sadly this is not directed in the the right way and seems to drift in and out of being something special or just we are another angry Hardcore act.

I don't think it's the bands fault though they just do what they want to do, they are not a band that would do something because it's commercial or to be cool. This band do the music they do because they live it, you can imagine any member of the Departed being the first in line to buy an obscure demo tape by some band you have never heard of or never will hear of.

They do have some crazy people going mad for them down the front but I think that it was the same crazy people going mad for every band tonight they just want to get in the pit and f**k some sh*t up, if you mind my language. They have a steady bass line, but I feel the guitar work is not heavy enough some times and should have a little more volume to it.

On a bill with three other great acts they really needed to stand out but this just kind was an ok interview to pass the time to the next act. I would not write Departed off though I think maybe in time they will enhance their identity and would be a band that people would listen to a lot more, but maybe that would just be on the underground circuit. You can make your own mind up about Departed below were you can listen to their stand out track in their set 'Tides' !!!
