Desecration - Cemetery Sickness

(CD Album Review)

****
Death Metal Veterans unleash more filth with their eighth album!!

Desecration have been kicking out dirty crust flavored Death Metal since the early 90's. While members have been spending time in other bands, Extreme noise Terror and Onslaught to name but a few. They have always found time to come back to Desecration, Ollie Jones being the only constant member of the band over the years in the various different line-up's. 'Cemetery Sickness' adds to a solid collection of brutal un-tampered Death Metal. They have Gore Esq. lyrics which are slighty tongue in cheek, with titles like 'C*nt full of Maggots' and with titles like this you can't go far too wrong!

With no song hitting the four minutes marks the album flies by with each song welded to the next, you have flat out shredding with the odd crust or punk riff thrown in for extra filth measure, there's Doom, Doom parts and a bit of groove thrown in. 'Coffin Smasher' a song that Carcass would be proud to have as their own song and 'I, Cadaver' a track that will delight those who still love Chris Barnes era Cannibal Corpse are two of the best songs on the album and really stand out for me. For those who enjoy the modern day concentration on technicality only have to hear tracks like 'Cut up and fed to the Dog' to be impressed by the record and the recording hits the perfect balance of modern day clarity but still maintain's the rawness of the old school recordings.

Making this album a must for fans of the past and modern era of Thrash and Death Metal music. It's half hour of pure dirt ridden Death Metal, if your fed up waiting for a new Bolt Thrower album or Autopsy's new album hasn't quite satisfied your appetite be sure to grab this! I know I am getting my copy as soon as I can and hope to see them live somewhere soon to hear the great new material on this record.
