Desert Storm - Bring the groove to the HRH festival in Wales!
***
Groove is in the heart!
Hard Rock Hell
Desert Storm *** are from Oxford where I am from and are a household name, but here at the HRH festival in Wales not many people seem to know them so the turn out to watch their set is a little poor. This is sad because if you are into Stoner music Desert Storm are ones to watch. They have a slow paced groove that picks up from time to time and if you like a joint or two this is a band you cannot ignore, they give you a smoky buzz.
Opening with the groover 'Ol' Town' that Crowbar, Kyuss and Down would be happy of they more in a slow groove running motion as they get into their own track. Guitarist Ryan Cole lays some killer riffs while his twin brother Elliott Cole lays down the beats in a timely manner. They instantly get people passing come over to check them out, because they realise that they are a well put together band that are worth watching.
One of the highlights of the bands set is 'Pocketwatch' which is a stroller of a track and really get's you going and nodding your head up and down. This also has a great bass line produced by Chris Benoist who always looks like he is really into playing some Funky bass and all Groove Stoner bands need some Funk. 'House of Salvation' continues with this groove but with some really uplifting Crowbar / Down Esq. high lifts in the music but flipping back and forth with the groove.
'Astral Planes' mixes up Stoner and Groove with Classic Rock in a well put together manner, While single 'Shadow of an Eagle' lifts the bands game so the crowd can get some moshing done and a few people are doing just that in a room that now has filled up quite a lot.

They rush through 'Sway, Queen' and Bison before they end the set with 'Enslaved in the icy Tundra' which is one of the bands heaviest tracks to date which in places even sounds like Death Metal. I think this track would appeal to some many Metal fans even has hints of Doom in it to.
If you like your Stoner Rock then you cannot ignore Desert Storm they really know how to produce good Stoner music in a very accessible way. See Desert Storm at a venue in Oxford soon!!! I enjoyed their set at Hard Rock Hell and I think you will enjoy them when you see them to.
