Devilskin - All hail the triumphant Kiwi's

New Zealand powerhouse invades London
Devilskin **** tonight are in Camden to play the World famous Underworld venue, under the Worlds End pub. Devilskin if you didn't already know are an Alternative Metal band from New Zealand. Who have traveled literally half way around the World to embark on their first headline tour of the UK.
Still suffering from jet lag, they come out fighting to show London what they're made of, and when they finally hit the stage, the crowd has thickened up a bit and been... and has been noticeably invaded by some raucous Kiwis, here to support their countrymen and woman.
They are spotted and welcomed by the band as they kick off a very loud set of stomping Metal. Keeping up the theme of tonight, Devilskin are another female fronted band to be gathering a great deal of support in 2016, and with Jenny Skulander being adept at beautiful clean vocals as well as guttural roars.
She is a powerhouse that you know won't be stopped by anyone, well maybe she has been because tonight it is plain to see that she is still struggling with the bad throat that has plagued her for most of this tour so far. Despite this she gives 100% to the fans and puts on a solid performance.

Musically this band can't be faulted tonight, they are tight, professional and on point. Nic Martin is especially impressive on the drums. He seems tohave matured a lot since I last saw them and really backs up the guitars with gusto. It’s a rare treat seeing a father and son perform in the same band. Opening with the Rock anthem 'Elvis Presley', a song about the King... you know this is going to be a good night.

And I am certainly glad I made the effort to come along and check them out. And I really got good value with Skarlett Riot, who supported earlier being brilliant as well. 'Circle Pit' launches the crowd into motion, and 'Vessel' continues this on... along with 'Until you Bleed' and their brilliant Dio cover of 'Holy Diver', the crowd is totally glued to the bands performance.
'Never see the Light' engages you even more. This is a band that really gives the crowd what they want... and knows when to change things up. They have so many good songs, which are really well written and I think this is why they are being so talked about at the moment. Hit single 'Start a Revolution' really shows this all off, and is one of the highlights of the set.

The title track from their debut album 'We Rise' gets the floor moving and rightly so; it’s an adrenaline fuelled head banger. This coupled with the rumbling bass and on stage chemistry
by the band make for a really entertaining set. Despite the Underworld not being at capacity tonight, the crowd reaction and energy more than makes up for it.
Devilskin are a fantastic live band and as the finish with 'Little Pills', I am positive that they just need to support the right band at the right time and they could explode. I for one can’t wait until they do. I don't think you have see the best of this band yet.
