Die Kur - Take themselves into mainstream Metal with new songs from the Scorpion!!!
****1/2
Die Kur really up their game in the capital city!
Die Kur ****1/2 if you have not heard Die Kur after tonight's performance you wonder why. It's been far too long since Die Kur released 'Era (Formicidae)' on the singer Ays Kura's own label NMTCG in 2011 an album that saw so much promise. Last time that Die Kur played Reptile a Goth, Industrial, Darkwave, Metal club night in Tower Hill which takes play at the Minories venue.
The intro is haunting and terrorfying as the band come on in gas mask and one by one enter the stage like a nuclear fallout had just happened. Opening up with the brilliant 'Hymenoptera' off the last album 'Era (Formicidae)'. They then continue with the next track off the album in a formulaic way. These songs are atmospheric and Metal at the same time and launch the set into motion and then another track off the same album 'Four rules of Hate' it's like they are playing an album set. This song lifts up the tempo to a massive peak level.
New track 'It must Be (Destroyed)' goes down amazingly and shows the band get stronger and stronger from album to album and the next one is bound to be their triumph. This song also features of the bands 'Manifesto' EP which they have just released and on the upcoming Terrorizer CD Fear Candy 126 which comes FREE with the Halloween issue of the magazine and is one of the heaviest tracks the band have ever recorded. This track even verges on Thrash Metal in some places so if you want to hear the band even heavier check this out!.
'Under the empire of the Sun to Follow (Part 1)' is just simply an epic song shortened to go down well in a live environment and it's epic undertone is changed into something new and maybe even better. While 'Forging Araneae' is a great leader for a great closing number which includes a very special guest.
Dan Devour (Death Valley Scars) a close friend of Ays Kura who produced the bands debut album 'Suicide, Sex and Suffering' and even played in the band at various shows climbs on to the plinth where Ays has been singing to join him in a rendition of Die Kur's biggest track 'New Era' and it ends the set off quite nicely. Die Kur have great things coming in 2014 so watch this space closely for more details and check out their new 'Manifesto' EP which 'It must Be (Destroyed)' is taken from.
