Stompin' Darkwave Industrial for you!

Resistanz Festival

Die Sektor **** formed over ten years ago and are at the moment signed up with DWA (Deathwatch Asia) and have four great albums to their name. I have to admit I don't know their body of work that well and they have only just been brought to my attention but what I see at Resistanz really does impress me. They can mix up great melodies with hard Electronic beats all in a well polished package and fronted by a very feminine singer in the form of Edwin Alter. Even though he is blonde and looks a little camp he really knows how to command the stage with aggression and intensity.

Starting off with a snippet preview of 'Solder' a track that I have heard a few times, so I am instantly into the band, so when they bring on the Electronic / Atmospheric 'Mother Hungry' I am happy I made sure I caught their set. This song is quite fast paced and has a really good underlining keyboard pattern that when hits in really drives the song most of the way through. It really is a dance floor number that you could imagine hearing in a club like Slimelights in London

'Blood I' off their last album is more manic and Punky and even goes from Electronica to Rave and even Eurodance, but staying quite heavy at the same time. By this time in the bands performance the room is really getting hot and sweaty and people seem to be faltering a little maybe this was because of the heat and it's Sunday. But maybe this is because of the intensity that Die Sektor produce on stage.

Other great moments in the bands set include versions of 'The Final Electro Solution' and 'The Final Electro Solution' which are split up with a tremendous version of  'Sum' off the last record '(-) Existence' and one of the stand out and darkest tracks in the bands collection. I love the fact the split up the two parts of the 'The Final Electro' because they work better separate but not that far away from each other to not have meaning and also gives Scott Denman a chance to show off his timing on the electronic drums which sounds really great during these tracks. 'Accelerant' goes by too quickly with the beats sounding like they are a thousand times a minute but leads way to a great final song 'Deathkill' which is one of the bands oldest tracks coming out in 2006 on the album 'To be fed Upon' which I have picked up recently.

It also as it goes on has a closing feel to it and you feel they have ended things off with style and some cool keyboard skills come out as the track goes on. I have no idea why the band started to loose the crowd half way through their performance, maybe it's because the venue is so hotter than the furnace and stuff and people need a break. But I would have not left in the middle of this set because Die Sektor are really great to watch and made me want to purchase some of their material and I am glad I stayed for the whole thing.
