A little bit Dodgy!!!

Brit-Rock must be Destroyed - UK Tour 2018

Dodgy *** are a band that not everyone rates, and not everyone wanted on this tour (well if you went into any of the forums... you would have read that). But I think the band managed to win many people over, over the duration of the tour. I have to say I am not one of these people, I have always liked Dodgy... and saw them many times when they first came out. The sad thing I have to say is, I was a little disappointed in tonight's performance. Yes they still have great voices, Yes they still are great musicians. But some of the life they had before, seems to be gone.

I think though they could get it back if they really wanted, they just have to confidence in themselves and their material which there is lots of. And all the songs I have heard, are really good and well written. They are here in London tonight as part of a touring package called 'BritRock must be Destroyed', which includes three other great acts Reef, Terrorvision and The Wildhearts. All great  Rock bands that ruled our airwaves and CD players, the whole way through the 90's. Dodgy are sadly only the opening act for the tour, with Reef, Terrorvision and The Wildhearts playing full sets each night with a rotating headliner.

Dodgy only have a half an hour set, so have to make the most, of the small time slot that they have been given. I know seems a little unfair, but this is probably to do with the fact they were announced later on to the bill and that they good not allocate anymore time. Maybe they should have not given an extra fifteen minutes to the headline act each night and given Dodgy and extra fifteen minutes, so they would have fifteen. They open their set with a song with a great title 'You give drugs a bad Name', and there is all ready an almost packed venue.

Showing that people did want to see all the bands of the bill, and that internet forums are bulls**t . I remember when Limp Bizkit play the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium and everyone said they were not going to see them, and guess what they had the biggest audience of the whole weekend. It's all talk... and most people don't want to listen to a few doubters. So it is really nice that everyone turned up to give support to Dodgy, because I think they are a band that really deserved this support... even of they are a little bit Dodgy.

People really forget how big Dodgy actually was, but who hasn't heard the brilliant Summer anthems 'Staying out for the Summer' and 'Good Enough'. I am sure they are played every Summer, all all the festivals you go to... or on the radio on a really hot day. So when the first of these is played tonight you can already feel that Dodgy are winning over a lot of people. Who all realised they loved this song, and that they might secretly be a Dodgy fan.

'In a Room' was always one of my favourite Dodgy tracks, I remember having the CD single and putting it on repeat the morning i got it. I really liked Dodgy back in the 90's, they where always a really fun band. And I think some of the humour and fun from their set, has gone... over the years and they really need to find that again. I know they only had a short set tonight, but songs like 'So let me go Far, I found You' and 'Every single Day' are really missing from the bands set. And even though I like 'If you're thinking of Me', when it was originally released it is too slow for tonight's audience.

They finish their set with the second of their Summer songs 'Good Enough', which finally see's the crowd joining in with. And many a head bopping around the crowd, while they have smiles on their faces. It's almost Summer and I think some of these people will be delving in their attic to bring out their Dodgy albums... and I am not meaning Aqua or the Spice Girls. This might not have been the best performance by Dodgy, but I think we all have a little space in our heart for them.
