Vans goes into a Meltdown!!!
Vans Warped Tour
Enter Shikari **** (West Stage) The doors for the main arena are shut due to over capacity in the main room and the band on the lips of every ones mouths are about to go onstage. They open up proceedings with an amazing alternative version of 'System... // ... Meltdown' which really starts the set off with style. Singer of the band Roughton "Rou" Reynolds goes onstage and types in his sequences for his backing and bursts into an atmospheric version of the song above and everyone watches on in amazement. This is the highlight of the bands set and is very different from what is about to commence in the rest of the bands set.
After this amazing introduction to tonight's performance they break into 'Sorry your not a Winner' which goes down really well and is one of the bands more catchy songs, I have heard this played in many clubs around London. The kids seem to really love this band, but I just can't get it myself, even if I kind of want to at times. They mix up Dub-Step and Nu-Metal well in a really well polished performance that is a great way of ending the main stage action at the London leg of the Vans Warped Tour.
The fact the room is over capacity makes the atmosphere in the venue electrifying and the band really feed of it, this might not be the best performance by the band but they really know what they are doing and look at all times like they are having fun. New track 'Rat Race' sounds great with a Bob Marley intro and already the bands fans know every word, which shows they are masters in their craft and 'Mothership' is just what everyone expects from a Shikari show.
So when they burst into a spectacular encore of 'Solidarity' and 'Zzzonked' which really are crazy in this live atmosphere, even if it seems they got to the end of their set a little too quickly. This is not a band that I would run out and see but they are a great live band and they can produce a show that can match bands like Pendulum or even Skrillex.
So if you like the music they produce you will not be disappoint by the way they produce it live, their are some differences between the way the songs are played live and the CD's but you won't really care because they blast out at you like nobodies businesses. If you like Enter Shikari then go see them live and support the band, because they really go for it and have earned their position on the bill today.
