Feared - Vinter
***
Five albums in three years for Feared!
Wow! This is the fifth album this band have released in just three years a near miracle in todays musical climate. Starting of as a project with two musicians this release sees Feared move on to a fully fledged band. With main man Ola Englund who has recently joined the The Haunted switching from bass and drums to guitar we now have the additions of Jocke Skog of Clawfinger fame on bass and the mighty Keven Talley on drums, who has drummed with just about everyone and is one of the finest at his craft around today.
'Vinter' walks the fine line between Death and Thrash Metal it has that clean production and the precision of say Fear Factory it also has sprinkles of Industrial and nice little melodic parts here and there too to break things up but mainly it's a battering ram of an album, With an rich dark atmosphere. Funnily enough it's more melodic tracks like 'Huldra' and 'Invidia' that stand out the most and of course the closing title track which opens with a beautiful ambient first half which kicks in the second half. It's a great instrumental.
There's great ideas on this with some awesome moments ands the musicianship is fantastic. The individuals involved CV's speak for themselves but on the whole there's not a lot about this that makes them stand out in the crowd. Everything's in the right place and it ticks all the boxes and it's a long way from being a bad album it just doesn't leap out you which is a shame.
