Goldie and The Heritage Orchestra - Perform 'Timeless' album in Bristol!!!

Classic album gets classical treatment!!! and we get a 'Timeless' evening.

Goldie is more known for being solo behind the decks blasting out some serious drum and bass, something he is very good at. Twenty years ago he did just that and produced the album 'Timeless' with probably his best known track 'Inner city Life' on it and considered something of a classic amongst dance music albums.

Well you could just leave a classic album or you could invite an orchestra to rework it. Yes as unbelievable as it sounds drum and bass done by a live fully fledged orchestra,in this case The Heritage Orchestra conducted by Charles Hazlewood himself known for being keen on expanding the appeal of classical music.

So with the tall ships in the background and the sun slowly setting it was time to experience an orchestra in a pretty unique way. They played the whole of the album, including the twenty minute track 'Timeless' of which part 1 is 'Inner city Life'  where a very talented singer took to the stage with the rest of the band.

It was quite a sight, the drums that would normally be looped were being performed by two very energetic percussionists with Goldie himself almost conducting the drummers in parts and certainly getting enthusiastically involved on stage if not actually performing himself. I appreciate some Drum 'n' Bass and some Classical but neither would be top of my list, but it worked perfectly drawing you into the rhythm and beats taking in the whole spectacle it certainly was more than the sum of it's parts.

Goldie, The Heritage Orchestra and the few thousand that came along to see all had smiles on their faces by the end and deservedly so for the performers. An hour and a half of something that shouldn't work on paper but turns into an amazing musical journey. This was something I was so glad I witnessed, because you probably will never see it again. A night to remember, and will go down in Goldie and Drum 'n' Bass history.
