GraVil - All their dreams are coming true!!!

What have you heard about GraVil!!!

Joe Denby manages to tie down GraVil front man Grant Stacey during their tour opening up for Hellyeah! and Protafield for a short interview.

Music Trespass: How are you today?

Grant Stacey: Very good cheers, We're on our first day off and we've spent it laying in bed eating KFC!

Music Trespass: How is the tour going with Hellyeah?

Grant Stacey: It's really good. We've been getting a really good crowd response. We're getting a side stage view of Hellyeah! every night. I think we're getting better as a band every night, which is nice to see that coming up as well.

Music Trespass: Lets go back to the beginning and talk about the history of GraVil.

Grant Stacey: We started as a two piece band. Quite a while back it was just me and a guy called Villa from Finland. We started writing some stuff together. As we got an album's worth of material together he decided that it wasn't for him anymore and he was to move back to Finland then eventually Germany and concentrate on other things in his life. I asked if it was ok to keep the name and keep GraVil going. He was happy for me to do it so I built a band around it. We released our debut album 'Thought's of a rising Sun' last few after a string of EP's. We played Download on the Takeover Stage last year, we played Hammerfest last year. We've gigged here and there and this is our first proper tour.

Music Trespass: Let's talk about your album 'Thought's of a Rising Sun' (which was given a five star review by Music Trespass!).

Grant Stacey: It took us a while to write it as I said it started out as a two man project. It wasn't ever written as an album we just wrote songs for ourselves and got to a point were we thought "well we have enough material let's go do it properly." Lets do a proper album with proper production and even if we just make two copies and have one each. The more we got into it and it started coming together we thought we actually had something special that deserved a proper release so we released it ourselves. At the time we had Myspace and we were getting lots of good feedback. So we decided if people want it lets give to them. As a result of "Let's make music for us" it was never "Let's start a Death Metal band or let's start a Thrash Metal band" it was let's make music we like and as a result we have an album that has as many sub genre's of metal on there as you've had hot diner's which we're proud of because we can't be pigeon holed. We're very proud of that. It took a while to write because we never had a timescale in mind.

Music Trespass: What's next for Gravil?
Grant Stacey: Well We're writing album two now. We've actually been writing today in the tour van. We're three songs in so hopefully it will be done and dusted by the end of this year and have a 2015 release and we might have something else coming up in the pipeline but I can't tell you what it is yet!
