Hugh Cornwall - Is awful at he Cornbury Festival!
*
An awful set by a legend is not Pleasant!
Hugh Cornwell * (Pleasant Valley Stage) is the legendary singer of The Stranglers and he is on early today, I have always liked The Stranglers and Hugh is a legend in the Punk genre so I was looking forward to his set. You can’t see why he is so legendary by his set today which just seems like very bad pub Punk / Rock, but someone must have known that when they booked him because they have given him such a early set today on a Sunday when most people are a sleep or a walking around in a daze.
Their doesn't seem to be any life in the set and he just seems to be running through a set of Punk by numbers if their numbers where all wrong. Their isn't really anything redeeming features to point out or say. It's just a pub Punk band at a Folk festival. It's no Stranglers and that is a shame because when I heard recently recorded material like ‘Totem and Taboo' I was really impressed, so don't know why he hasn't been able to produce the same charisma live. I hope Hugh reads the live reviews and does something about his recent live performances, because I would not like to see a performance like this again.
