Janet Kay announce two very special UK shows
Janet Kay and Carroll Thompson are touring together, and coming to the UK for two very special shows. They will play The Assembly in Royal Leamington Spa on March 24th, 2023 and The Great Hall in Gillingham on March 25th, 2023, both of which will be shows you will really not want to miss out on. The shows are entitled the 'The Queens of lovers Rock', and are sure to Sell Out!!! quickly. Janet Kay is best known for the Dennis Bovell produced track 'Silly Games' which went to No.1 in the National UK charts at the start of 1979. This was the first time a British born black female hit the top of the charts, a feat now immortalised in the Guinness Book of Records.
Janet Kay had already had many underground hits on the Reggae charts prior to this with tracks such as 'Loving You', 'That’s what friends are For', 'I do love You' and more. Janet Kay has worked with Fatboy Slim, Jackie Mittoo, Aswad, Omar, Sly and Robbie and more. Carroll Thompson first found fame with the Reggae smash 'I’m so Sorry' and had a slew of hits such as 'Hopelessly in Love', 'Make it with You', 'Love won’t let us Wait' and 'I’m Still Waiting'. Carroll Thompson was lead vocalist and founding member of 1980's Jazz / Funk group Floy Joy and she has worked with Sugar Minott, Trevor Walters, Courtney Pine, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole, Maxi Priest, Billy Ocean, Aswad, Mad Professor.
