Kataklysm destroy London!!!

Kataklysm ***** formed in Montreal Quebec, Canada in 1991 and I just can't believe Kataklysm's first full length album came out in 1995? Time flies when you listening to brilliant music and having a good time, and the Kataklysm guys have been having that with this band and their side project Ex Deo which shows a different aspect of the band. Kataklysm have been in the middle league of metal for ten to fifteen years now. Like a well oiled machine churning out solid album after solid album and constantly touring. They always seem to be on the middle slot of a big tour or festival. Never really hitting the big time but never fading away either. The band are super reliable and are kind of Death Metal's equivalent to Hatebreed. You can take or leave their albums buy you'll struggle to find a better band in the live arena.

Kataklysm for this writer where always there in the background, I never paid full attention to them. After tonight I wanted to buy their back catalogue. Again sometimes seeing a band your not sure of can make all the difference. Opening with 'Let them Burn' off the 2006 album 'In the arms of Devastation' you realise Kataklysm tonight put on a great show and were absolutely superb, with this song they literally explode onto the stage and for ninety minutes don't stop for breath. Second song 'Push the Venom' stands out as normal as the band play fast and steady.

Kataklysm play Technical Death Metal in an early Fear Factory manner, mixing different elements the band don't limit their sound. Throwing in groove, some breakdowns and above all melody without compromising the heaviness. Some purists say their sound has weakened on their later albums but nothings new there. Judging from the crowds reaction to every song the band have an awesome repertoire. Their are so many great tracks on show tonight that it is hard to pick up stand out was and the set goes by at a very fast speed and when the pit is going absolutely bonkers you wonder if you will get out of here alive.

Tthe band are one of the tightest I have ever witnessed, which shows they must practice a great deal. A decent portion of their latest album is aired tonight, which is a great album and a review for it will be on Music Trespass soon. The new songs off the album 'Waiting for the end to Come' seem to mix with the older material with no problems at all. Kataklysm are a band who do what their good at and are one of todays most under rated bands. When they end with the ever popular 'Crippled and Broken' in the encore you realise tonight has been a brutal night of pure aggressive Metal that hits where their is a empty hole awaiting it. What they do tonight they do to perfection and I will most likely go see them again because it was a good night of Extreme Metal and the best gig so far this year.
