Klaxons - Love Frequency (Tom Rowlands Remix)
***1/2
Can imagine being in a field in Essex listening to this!
The Klaxons are a very popular mainstream Indie Rock / Post Punk band who like to have their material remixed, today we are looking at the Tom Rowlands remix of their ever so popular single 'Love Frequency'. From the start of the mix it reminds me of when I went to the High Definition festival in Essex a few years ago, it has that House, Techno, Electronica feel to it. You can imagine be with florescent face paint dancing their tits off in hug boots or wellies, going "I F**kin love this song!", and probably actually never heard it before in their life. Well maybe with this one they would have because it's been all over the radio for ages now, and this remix really gives it a new summer festival vibe!. So watch out it will be playing from the stereo from a burger van when the Reading Festival comes around this year.
The beats to the song are hard hitting and really good and the repetitiveness actually helps you to feel the vibe that Tom Rowlands was going for. It also has a nice build up and kicks back in nicely, this would get you up on your feet going crazy pumping your fists when it kicks back in. I do think they could have made the kick in a little bit more heavy, it's the point were everyone is meant to go wild so needs to be really big. I don't think Tom has managed to do this on this track, but we have to respect him for having a go at it. This only comes on a Dance / DJ orientated 12' which I am sure is going to sell out very quickly and be very limited and the B-Side contains a remix by Erol Alkan which is ok but not really worth talking about that much, but if you want to flip something over for some good beats or to have on as background music in your room then you can't really go to wrong with it because it's an ok B-Side. The 12' is worth a listen because it is a Tom Rowlands remix is good, just don't think many people will be Raving about it as much as the band might think they will be. Yes this is scene music and for all people that listen to BBC Radio 1 but it's not rubbish like a lot of the new music people seem to be talking about, it does have some merit.
