Krisiun - Bring a bit of Brazilian flavour to the Underworld

January 13th 2013
London, Camden Underworld, UK

****
Brazilian Death Metal trio take London by storm opening for Kataklysm.

Krisiun **** are on after Fleshgod Apocalypse storming set, and they take to the stage in a no nonsense manner. A far more stripped down affair, Krisiun are a three piece band who are actually brothers. The band play Death Metal in an old school way think Sepultura before 'Arise' mixed in with Deicide in their early days, we say this but not a lot of people would realise that Krisiun actually formed in 1990 in Brazil and probably were one of Sepultura's main influences.

Starting of with oldish track 'Ominous' they give the audience what they want a brutal explosion of sound, which continues on thought their set with the pure sound of hatred of 'Ravenger' and 'Combusting Inferno' to name a few tracks that the band play today, because this is not music for the faint hearted. The band are super tight mixing things up playing super fast one minute and throwing in a big slice of groove to keep things interesting. The crowd are practically eating out of their hands as they run through their set at a fast speed. Tonight is actually one of the rare occasions where at the underworld all three bands are playing to a full crowd and selected parts of the crowd are there for that specific band.

Paying tribute to playing on English shores the band blaze through an awesome take of Venom's classic 'Black Metal'. Their version actually gives the original a run for it's money and is pretty on point today, like the storming sounds of 'Blood of Lions' a track that storms a long with a steady riff before breaking out into a great drum solo segment. Krisiun's take on Death Metal is pretty basic but it's a formula that a lot of bands get wrong and tonight see the using the formula to perfection. This is purely awesome stuff from Krisiun and I will be purchasing some of their albums soon.
