Liv Sin - Do Metal European style in London
***3/4
Opening up the London Scala
Liv SIn ***3/4 are a Swedish Heavy Metal band that have really homed their craft, they keep uping their game every time I see them. Bringing influences from Classic Rock and Heavy Metal, with a European vibe to it. As they perfrorm I can just see visions of them playing at an open air festival abroad, they are just that kind of band. Liv Sin are so much better than being an opening band, their performances are always with heart and soul. 'This is shown best in their opening song 'The Process', which drags people in and up to the front of the stage. There is a lot of people that have turned up early, in order to catch them... with even a few people that have been to almost every show.
One of the best songs in the bands set is 'I am the Storm', which really is a stand out live track. This song shows off Liv Sin to the best of their abilities, especially Liv's fantastic vocal range... that is always to the point and has some many different sides to it. Of course you already now Liv Jagrell (Aka Liv Sin), was the front woman for the band Sister Sin. A band that really made a big impact on the UK Metal scene, when they first came out. All the songs are really well written like 'Chapter of the Witch' and closer 'King of Fools' as an example, Liv Sin are Classic Heavy Metal done in the right way... you can hear so many influences from bands like Judas Priest, King Crimson, Dio to Diamond Head. This band does the Metal you want to hear, in all right ways. And I have to say I really love them for that.
I would like to see a little more interaction with the crowd though, because if anything to go by when I met them afterwards they have great characters and I think I would like to see these characters come out more on stage. I know that some of the members are already trying to do this. I like Liv Sin, they really have attitude and are a great live band, but with the other bands on the bill being Dark Glam Rock / Goth and Electronic. I personally do think they would be better fitted to other bills, and maybe the reason they have not progressed like they should. Because they have everything to move forward, and if they where on the right bills and festivals I feel they would be much bigger... especially in Europe.
