Liv Sin - Pure Traditional Heavy Metal
****1/2
The New Wave of Liv Sin!!!
Liv Sin ****1/2 is known for being the singer of Gothenburg, Swedish band Sister Sin. But now she has gone solo, and has put together a killer band to back her. The band consists of Patrick Ankermark (Guitar), Liv's boyfriend Per Bjelovuk (Drums), Chris Bertzell (Guitar) and Tommie Winther (Bass). Tonight she is at the London, Dome supporting American Industrial Metallers American head Charge.
She has been given a fourty minute time slot, and I don't think Liv Sin wanted to waste a second of it. She came to the stage in a hooded cloak, looking like a hight priestess of Rock. She has the confidence and determination to impress, and she moves round the stage like she was born to be there. Interacting with her band mates in a perfect way.
Opening with 'Godless Utopia' you know tonight's set is going to be something special, and you can see the band have been waiting to play London all tour. The stage is slightly lifted and you feel like you have been taken back in time a little. It's the 80's and we are ready to Rock!!!, and some traditional Heavy Metal is coming our way.
Her single form earlier in the year 'Let me Out', sounds so big tonight. Guitarist Patrick Ankemark really knows how to play intricate guitar sequences, and he shows this tonight. Looking great with his long blonde hair flowing as he moves his head as he plays, he looks like how you would want a Rock guitarist to look.
This leather clad Rock chick knows how to wail, she even comes out at one point in a Rob Halford (Judas Priest) style leather cap. One of the great highlights of the set, along with the cover of Halford's band Fight song 'Immortal Sin'. If your a Judas Priest fan you will love this band, some of them even have tattoo's of the Birmingham Rock Gods.
But Liv Sin is far more than this, she has so many great songs of her own. And the bands set tonight, really is magical. It is just a shame that the London, Dome have decided to put the sound levels up way to high. So you can't hear all the parts to the songs.
If you love traditional classic Bristish New Wave of Heavy Metal sound, you will really love Liv Sin and Sister Sin. Liv is one hell of a frontwoman and she really knows how to deliver the goods in a live performance. So get yourself to one of their shows, you will not be disappointed.
