Mastodon - High Road

New track from Progressive Metal, Doom, Stoner, Psychedelic, Rock band Mastodon!

Released ahead of their new album which is due in June, Mastodon have released a sneak peak of what's to come. 'High Road' sounds as close to accessible and as typical as Mastodon get. A chugging, galloping verse which leads into a soaring chorus that sticks in your head for ages after. The opening riff has that distinctive Mastodon sound with Brent Hinds taking lead vocals with Brann Dailor backing it up in the chorus.

It goes a bit Psycadelic in the middle before coming back to the beginning. It's as normal as Mastodon get! always with heavy penetrating the brain riffs and a great deal of intensity mixed up with a bit of silly ness and weirdness to boot. I don't think for one second that this really gives any hints on what the next album will sound like because anything can happen on a Mastodon album, just when you think you figured them out they take a complete left turn. Always evolving, always expanding. Mastodon. Got to love them! Can't wait for the new album! So watch out for it in a shop near you soon.
