Mia Klose - London

(CD Album Review)

****

Swedish House Metaller !!!

Despite the name of the album Mia Klose is actually from Sweden that country that has produced many notable bands from of course ABBA, The Cardigans, The Hives to the heavier In Flames and Entombed, but Mia Klose is not to be under estimated she is not just a beautiful blonde bombshell she also has a great deal of talent. She is very cleaver and has put together a band that shows her off to her best potential.

It seems Mia is probably in the middle of the two extremes with 80's Rock seemingly the main influence. This album is teaming guitar riffs that would not seem out of place in the days of stadium filling big haired bands especially in second track 'You drive me crazy', which really takes you back to the past when bands like Poison and Hanoi Rocks rained supreme.

While saying this is firmly taking it 's references from the 80's it does not feel dated in any way either. The tracks are edgy and keep you interested until the end and after the quite short eight tracks you are left wanting more. But there is no escaping the influences, 'Living for Tomorrow' is almost onto power ballad territory of singers like Bonnie Tyler of T'Pau mixed with Heart.

I have always been a fan of girl Rock bands especially L7, Hole etc and while this is more rock than grunge there is an undercurrent of that creeping in 'Lady Killer'. Final track 'City of rock' seems to be about the good old London town that the album is titled after. The vocals are very accessible all the way through and not in a shouted Rock style. Whether deliberate or just doing what feels right I think the bringing 80's Rock kicking and screaming into the 21st century will continue to win her a lot of fans.
