Nelly - Time to get hot at the Rock the South festival!!!
****1/2
Hip Hop / Rap comes to Rock the South
(Rock the South - Festival - Day 2)
Nelly ****1/2 is most definatly at the festival to tear it up, like no one else but Nelly could do. People might say he is a little out of place at a Country and Rock festival, being Hip Hop / Rap But the Rock and Country music community have really accepted him into their hearts. I think the fact that artists like Kid Rock mixed Rap and Country together, has opened the genre up to different people from different backgrounds. Which I think is a really wonderful thing, and I would like to see more of in the future.
Nelly was raised in St Louis, MO, where he set out to be a rapper like no other. Nelly keeps with the vibe of the festival, but adds a little of his own flare to the look of his set as well. With the background on the stage, being adorned with videos of flashy cars, diamonds and women. Just like any Rap / Hip Hop video, or any mainstream Rock video now. MTV might not be the same as it used to be, but the MTV video vibe is still alive with artists like Nelly / Kid Rock / Snoop doggy Dogg / Limp Bizkit and Kane Brown.
Nelly looked fitter than he has ever looked before, you wouldn't believe that he is nearly fifty years old. Because he moves around like he is in his twenties, and looks like he is to. His stage presence is something quite special, and he really had a great connection with the audience. Slipping in 'Country Grammer' into his set, which is the right one to bring out in this surrounding. Back up with his hits like 'Rid wit Me', 'Air force Ones' and his mega hit 'Hot in Here', which you can hear on many a commercial on TV to this day. The crowd really goes crazy for these songs, and shows that Rock the South really love Nelly.
The crowd for Nelly's set really did come alive, and I have to say it was one of the best sets of the Rock the South festival. I think this was maybe the case, because Nelly's set was short but sweet. It is like a hit and run, he comes in and get's the job done, which shows he is a real star. A star can do not much, and still make it seem like you have everything. So this is why we think you should go and see Nelly, you won't be dsiappointed.
