Parker McCollum - A true Country Superstar
****1/2
The best is still to come!!!
(Rock the South - Festival - Day 3)
Parker McCollum ****1/2 is a Singer / Songwriter, and real cowboy from Austin Texas, who is here today to show Rock the South festival what he is all about. Parker McCollum released his first single and EP in 2013, and his debut album 'The Limestone Kid' in 2015. Not to metion being named an "Artist to Watch" by Rolling Stone, Billboard, SiriusXM, CMT, RIAA, and more. And listening to his material, I can see why. He has a great Country sound, which can be compared to some of the music by Kenny Chesney, Kip Moore, Luke Bryan, and other huge Country singers.
With this in mind, you can see why he is coming on before Eric Church, at this years Rock the South festival. There is a lot of people that want to check him out, and see what he is made of. He is the first artist I have really been listening to, since I first heard Kameron Marlowe (Who actually supported Parker McCollum on tour)... so I think I might be a little bit late to the party, Even though Parker is a married man, he has all the girls adoring him, and singing every word of every song. He is not only a great singer but also a very talented musician, and this comes accross when he bringing his music to the Rock the South audience.
I really love songs like 'Handle on You', 'West Idiana' and 'Pretty Heart', but you could name any song in his set. Each has equal merit, and performed in the best way to drag you into his performance. I think in recent years, people have learned that Country doesn't have to be miserable. And even though you are singing about life events, you can have some fun in your songs. But even though Parker McCollum has some fun in his songs, and some of the chorus' are catchy. You really want to listen to what he has to say and I think he has a lot of insteresting things to say.
So as he ends his set with one of my favourite songs 'Burn it Down', leaving way for Eric Church to finish everyone off. But Eric is going to have to really produce the good, because Parker has done one Hell of a set. Full of great Country Rock songs that have a commerical edge to them. He might be a little bit on from when he was called an "Artist to Watch", but I still think he is an artist to watch. Because his songs are great, his live performance is great. And I think for Parker McCollum the best is still to come, so watch this space.
