Pendejo - Atacames

(CD Album Review)

****
Imagine if Kyuss and The Gypsy Kings made an album together. Yes, it's that good!

Pendejo formed in the Netherlands and sing in Spanish! bit unusual but there you go. Playing an groove ridden Stoner Rock with Spanish vocals over the top and finished off with frontman El Pastuso's roaring trumpet! it's great stuff! Kicking off with the catchy as hell 'El Verano',  a song which is fast and full of hooks and is a great songs to start everything off with.

'Amor Y Pereza' is a slow moving track which has a killer groove to it in the place where the trumpet's are more prominent. The next track 'Unero' wouldn't sound out of place on a Fu Manchu album with it's kick ass riff's and solid rhythm section. Throughout the album the band are tight as hell, 'Hermelinda' has this wonderfully mellow yet haunting introduction that kicks into a slow quite Doomy track which builds to a dramatic shredding climax.

One of the stand out tracks 'Atacames' comes up you know it is bound to be a sure fire winner with fans of the Stoner genre and is one of the stand out tracks on this release. It's everything you want from a Stoner album, with it's Big riffs, big hooks some nice reflective moments. It's packed with great songs and it's out smack bang in the middle of the summer! it's essential festival music! It's great just go for it!
