P.O.D - A show of energy as they squeeze you like a Lemon at the Grove

****
Payable On Death, styled as 'P.O.D', made its first UK Tour stop in Exeter.

P.O.D****'s 'Full Circle Tour' has its first stop in Exeter, UK, playing at the Lemon Grove, which is a quite good-sized venue, with a stage and a bar for those interested in taking a few drinks aboard. The band formed in 1992 in San Diego California , and has since sold over twelve million records Worldwide, plus three Grammy Award nominations.

The band slowly approaches a whopping thirty years of experience creating Nu-Metal music..which is quite impressive, if you ask me!! It was all quite impressive seeing an almost full venue coming along to see their show, considering the years they have in the music industry. For this 'Full Circle Tour' support acts were TheyAre68 followed by Alien Ant Farm . Now, I'm sure everyone reading this will recognise the name of Alien Ant Farm, am I right? And how could you not... AAF have been in the music industry for almost as long as P.O.D., so there's no excuse in not knowing these guys!!!.

Anyway, let's get back to our headliner P.O.D., which unfortunately had to have a support member on drums, due to Bernardo having to go back to California to solve some personal issues. To be quite fair though, their support member did a good job the entire show.

Lead vocalist Sonny Sandoval had prepared a surprise for the Exeter crowd: his son came on stage and joined drummer Jonny in playing an entire song in perfect synchrony. And this was not all; during the MC moment, Sonny announced that today was Jonny's birthday..which obviously made the crowd congratulate and cheer for him. With that said, the band started playing again, and this time a song that went down like honey, 'Youth of the Nation' -proves that this song will never die, no matter how many years pass by.

Exeter crowd did not disappoint in creating an appropriate atmosphere while jumping and singing alongside band members, with even a couple circle pits opening up from time to time. Songs that certainly got the most attention were 'Boom, Panic Attack' (which has that Tom Morello-inspired guitar riffs and Raggae breaks), 'Soundboy Killa', 'Alive', 'Satellite' and like I mentioned above ', Youth of the Nation'.

All in all, all the bands were full of energy on stage and had good interaction with the crowd..which is what you want to see in a live show, right?!
Personally, makes me feel lucky to have the chance of shooting such bands that know how to maintain & entertain their followers along the years! Either by performing some of their older hits or by performing some of their newest singles, which have a more Reggae tendency to them. P.O.D. have proven that they deserve to be on the stage in front of you all. Give them a listen next time they're in your town.
