Port Cities - Travelling to every port and City

London, Slaughtered Lamb, UK

A magical evening at The Slaughtered Lamb!!!

Port Cities **** Deep in the heart of Clerkenwell, London at a trendy venue called The Slaughtered Lamb (Yes! like the pub in 'American Werewolf in London'), I am ready for an evening of live music from a very special up and coming band. Port Cities hailing from Canada take the stage for a packed, intimate gig on a small stage surrounded by fairy lights and glimmers in peoples eyes.

This three piece of talented musicians have already won five awards at this years music week Nova Scotia, quite something for any band. So this band were really one, I have had my eye on for quite some time. Port Cities love playing in England, as they don’t have to drive as far... because Canada is big and it takes them so long from venue to venue.

The band state that the mums seem to like the next song, as the burst into the track 'Body and Soul'. I think this band are all about family, and music really runs through this bands veins. With the lead guitarist Dylan Guthro dad being Bruce Guthro of the Scottish band Runrig... Yes the Scottish band... he does hail from Canada Nova Scotia... he must spend his time flipping from place to place.

The video for the bands single 'Astronaut', shows this family vibe... with it being made up of family footage of the band when they were young. One of the highlights in the bands set is new song 'Montreal', which is a wonderful song about the city they come from (Nova Scotia). This is a band that really hit the big time straight away, with their first song together 'Back to the Bottom' going to No.1 in Canada.

This of course is one of their most well songs, and seems to be a real fan favourite this evenign. 'Sound of your Voice' is dedicated to Sarah who invited the band to there wedding after hearing them and simply falling in love with them, I think they see this song as their song... which is a really nice touching moment in Port Cities set.

They also dedicate the track 'Strong' to their friend Scott because he is built like a brick shit house, which is a funny moment in their set. Port Cities are really talented, they even wrote one of their songs outside a hotel in Wales, if this wasn't fantastic enough... if you sign up to there mailing list you can win a Port Cities gig at your own house.

Once a year they pick a name and if it's yours your a very lucky chap or lady. For the the last song the band go unplugged and head into the crowd, which is quite a special moment in their beautifully chilled set. This band is a band that are just set to be huge, so you better check them out before they do.
