Priest - Are on the verge of being huge!!!

There is a signal in the show!!!

Priest **** are on a full Swedish bill tonight with headliners The Deathstars and Liv Sin, and are a band we have been keeping an eye on for a while, They have so many great Synth-Pop / Dark-Pop inspired songs, which have an Electronica / Darkwave sound to them. They keep to a Depeche Mode esq. vibe, which has been given 2020 elements to them. Like opener 'The Pit', which is one of my personal favourite songs. The song has great attitude to it, and opens up the bands dark performance with style. I say dark because the bands music is dark, but also the stage is dark... later in the set all you can see is Mercury's red laser from his mask. Priest current line-up consists of Mercury, Salt and Sulfur, and we all know that certain members where in the very sucessful Metal band Ghost.

And we all know that with so many great songs, Priest have the ability to be equally successful. These songs that I just can't get out of my head, and I think the minute the mainstream pick up on them... they will be huge. So it's great to see them in venues, the size of the London, Scala. I actually remember seeing Ghost, not that long ago in similar size venues and now they are playing stadiums and areas. You can hear where they can go forward, with killer tracks like 'A  signal in the Noise' a track I like even more every time I hear it. Mercury used to be the only member that really moved onstage, but now all the band are moving around, and even dancing at times. I do feel that they need to add more elements to their live show, they could really add so many more theatrical moments and props to their performance.

For me just hearing the music is enough, but if they want to step up to the next level I really think this is needed. Imagine a huge cross coming behind them for the song 'The Cross', or a huge hand coming out of the front of the stage for maybe 'Obey'. I just think this would be kind of cool, but I understand you need to be playing bigger venues before you can do this. Their new single 'Burning Love' is a real dance floor filler, with it's heavy beats it really kicks in and shows off what the band can do. I love that Mercury at one point goes into the crowd, for some interation with the audience... which is really special and opens up a connection with some new fans.

So when it get's near to the end of their set 'History of Black', is a full sing-a-long with all the crowd knowing the lyrics and the people that didn't pretending they did. They end their set with the infectious and popular 'Vaudeville', which is still one of their best live tracks. This song really ends their set in the right way, and shows a slightly more hectic sound to them. I can't wait to see what Priest are goign to do in the future, so watch this space for future reviews and Priest items.
