Raven Lord - Spill the beans on their debut album with Helen Westby!!!
Helen Westby gets down to a serious talk with Rock's best exports Raven Lord to talk about the bands debut album and more...
Music Trespass: Having listened to your debut album, “Descent To The Underworld”, I have drawn my own conclusions as to what sounds have influenced you, but could you tell me what bands you all aspire to?
Raven Lord: Well, we like so many bands for the early heavy metal era. As far as vocals I like Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Halford, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Glenn Hughes, TNT. Probably even more that doesn’t come to my mind right now.
Music Trespass: All your current band members have played with some very influential groups in the past, but I’d like to ask what brought you all together as a group?
Raven Lord: They were all hand selected and by management and me. The criteria could be so many as style, location, musical background and how nice of a guy he would be.
Music Trespass: What was the first album or single you ever bought and why?
Raven Lord: When we were children we visited our grandmother in Yugoslavia every summer . She then would give us little money to buy two or three records. So when I went to the store to pick a a record there was a brown/ beige version of Black Sabbath's 'Heaven and Hell'. I bought the records because it had the platinum sticker on the cover . I had no idea what Heavy Metal or Black Sabbath was at that time.
Music Trespass: If you could headline any particular venue or festival in the UK, which one would it be?
Raven Lord: It would be Bloodstock Open Air. It’s cult ! It’s great, it’s the best.
Music Trespass: What band would be you most like to support on tour?
Raven Lord: We would gladly tour with Lord Volture from the Netherlands or Voodoo Highway from Italy .
Music Trespass: You have a few future tour dates booked, but have you got many more in the pipeline?
Raven Lord: It wouldn’t be a surprise if I tell you and leaked the information ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Right? No seriously we have a couple of things that we will announce any time soon. Besides we’re waiting for some answers from some festivals that we proposed Raven Lord to.
Music Trespass: If you could have “time out” with any music artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Raven Lord: By “time out” do you mean hanging out with and chatting? I met and talked to some of the biggest stars in the Metal industry but never ever met Ronnie Jame Dio. What a shame, On the living side I wouldn’t mind having a cup of tea with Geezer Butler and talking face to face with him. I like listening to what he has to say.
