The Reasoning - Bring Soft Rock to the Prog stage at the Magna Centre!

April 6th 2013
Rotherham, HRH Prog Festival, UK

**

To soft to make an inpact at all!!!

The Reasoning ** are the third band to embrace the Prog stage and I wouldn't exactly say they are Prog. They seem to mix up the sound of Nightwish x-singerTarja with their brand of Soft Rock. The thing is Tarja has the voice to back it up and a stage presence that is like no other in it's field. Singer Rachel Cohen does have the talent to embark to the next level but she sits back to much in her comfort zone and does not go all out.

Guitarist Keith Hawkins does have some nice licks and the songs are put together well, but in a decade where their are so many other acts to compete with will The Reasoning go far, and I think if they don't change a few things the answer is no. Their are a few good moments in the set like the tracks 'Dark Angel' and 'The Omega Point' which shows the band have some interesting idea's that they just need to execute differently. I would say thou they just leave me a little disenchanted and I can't wait to get to another stage.
