Rival Sons - Are a class act in London
*****
Ten years of Rockin' the audience the right way
Rivals Sons ***** hit the Roundhouse in London this week as part of their European tour. Over the last ten years they have gone from strength to strength gaining attention from some of the biggest stars in Rock history including Black Sabbath who had them as their support act on 'The End' fairwell tour. With the latest release of their 6th studio album 'Feral Roots' they have set a new bar when it comes to quality, its clear a lot of time and thought has gone into making each track.
The night was brilliant, each member of the band has such a strong stage presence. Jay Buchanan is simply a power house on the mic, lead guitarist Scott Holiday with his mad riffs and moves is very entertaining to watch, Mike Miley was high for all to see with his heavy drumming, Dave Beste with his hard base lines and the multi talented Tom Ogren Brooks on keyboards.each individually capable of captivating the audience.
The dramatic set and stage lighting really worked well with the music, if you like mid to Heavy Rock with a Blues Soul you will love Rival Sons. You will struggle to find any genuine music fans, who dont like this band. These guys really have nailed it when it comes to good old time Rock 'n' Roll, they are just spotless in every way. With their mygestical melodies and strong lead vocals it really makes for something special.
All in all 'Feral Roots' is a great album and they were really able to bring it to life on the night, with songs like opening tracks 'Back in the Woods' and 'Sugar on the Bone' they really do impress from the start of their set. And also we should not forget to mention the title track 'Feral Roots' and the brilliant 'Imperial Joy' which are other great tracks from the new album that stand out tonight.
Rival Sons used a skeleton of the dog on the album cover with its pulsating heart beat as the back drop, this really pumped up the crowd before they walked on as it vibrated the room. The album name came from their Southern California routes taking pride in their original home towns and upbringings before city life and new found fame.
These guys are certainly the real deal with an amazing Soul sound and gritty Rock vibe, which I have to mention is very refreshing. The excitment of the crowd was clear, and everyone in attendance did not want the night to end.
This is a band which gave a great deal of power, to their live show. I certainly would recommend you add Rival Sons to your music collection, if you have not done so all ready. These guys have become and big name on the Rock stage all around the World, and appear to be ever increasing in popularity throughout the UK every day... so watch this space for more news on them in the future.
