Seabound - Are still 'Watching over You' !!!

Electronica the classic way!

Resistanz Festival

Seabound **** might be one of the quieter bands on the bill this weekend, but they fit in like a well oiled glove. I think this is because of the determination of Frank M. Spinath to put on a show and make their set interesting. He makes the set interesting by the way he puts across the lyrics and some on stage movements I have not seen the like of before. Also the beats and electronics provided by Martin Vorbrodt are second to none providing a great atmosphere for the bands performance, which really stands out as something different in a weekend with quite a few bands that sound a like in places.

The music they produce is really awesome and when you think of Seabound you can't ignore the track 'Watching over You', which is over ten years old now. The song does not sound dated at all even though it has a retro EBM / Electronic feel to it and hints on acts like Depeche Mode and Covenant. For me the highlight of the set is the track 'Everything' the song has a Wolfsheim feel to it but is far more up beat and dancey and just is a song that drags you in to it and you could listen to over and over again.

Another stand out track 'For Life' which is really moody and has a hint of David Bowie to it and with fellow new track 'Contraband' are some of the best moments in the bands haunting set. 'Contraband' almost sounds like it's coming off a submarine under water and kicks in with torpedo beats after a slow intro. Taken from the bands latest album 'Speak in Storms' which could be my favourite to date. This song get's heavier as it goes on, almost into a place where Frank is chanting the lyrics out at the end over the Electronica beats like it's an old Goth song.

I find Seabound really interesting and I will be purchasing some of their albums, because I can't get some of the songs out of my head. Yes they really stick in and you find yourself humming them down the road. They also come across really well live and with the music they are doing, I have seen a lot of artists fail at so that really impressed me and I would go and see them again when they come back to the UK.
