The Selecter - Skankin' it up in Bristol!!!

November 12th 2014
Bristol, o2 Academy, UK

****

Giving the headliners a run for their money!!!

The Selector are playing just before The Levellers and the show has a almost feel that either band could have headlined this event. The Ska / Two-Tone legend did very well as a support band and the The Selecter with all their nine members squeezed on the stage, seemed to be enjoying performing to the Bristol crowd from the moment they arrived onstage.

A healthy following of their own was present in the crowd and it was interesting to see the rest of the crowd warming to them as their slot went on and by the end they had the whole venue singing along to “Too much Pressure”. Before we reached the mass sing along we had been treated to “3 minute Hero, Missing Words, On my Radio” and a wonderful Ska version of the James Bond theme.

I could have quite happily listened to them all night, but tonight is not a Selecter show and they have to make way for the headline act The Levellers obviously!!! but they are going to have a massive challenge on their hands because this is a hard act to follow.
